The 2013 festival boasts an incredible line up. Glasgow, which is known to have produced some of the UK's most famous Comedians, will once again play host to major headliners includingJimmy Carr, Paul Merton, Sean Lock and Al Murray as well as local talent that includes Dorothy Paul, Jerry Sadowitz, Craig Hill and Daniel Sloss. For the budding film critics amongst you Glasgow hosts a Film Festival in February, but don't worry if you've missed it as the Glasgow Film Theater is a year-round screening programme of world cinema classics and contemporary art house films. Glasgow's centre for lovers of film, the GFT has been leading the way in specialised cinema for 36 years and aims to teach and cultivate an understanding of the moving image in all its diversity. From art house to late night cult screenings and from classics back on the big screen to independent documentaries, there's something for everyone. In celebration of the release of the bold and beautiful ‘To the Wonder', there is a Terrence Malick retrospective screening all five of his previous features: from Badlands to The Tree of Life. If you've missed these (or just want another chance to see them on the big screen!) then indulge yourself this month in Glasgow.

Glasgow Music Festival has run for over 100 years and promotes amateur performance so it's the ideal place to spot some of tomorrows stars. Performers have wide-ranging experience and abilities from high flyers on their way to becoming professional performers to gifted amateurs who just enjoy sharing their talents! It runs from 2nd - 16th March covering a wide range of tastes from classical, folk, jazz, rock to traditional Scottish music. There are events for solo singers and instrumentalists through to a full programme for choirs, orchestras, bands and ensembles. In addition there are recitals of verse and prose and even a dance section presented in association with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society.

Coming up in April if you want to wait for slightly warmer weather is the 8th Aye Write Book Festival. This year's festival takes place at the Mitchell Library from 12 - 20 April 2013. You can view the full programme on this website now, and buy tickets online by phone or in person at the Mitchell Library. This year's line-up includes Sandi Toksvig, Will Gompertz, Tracey Thorn and Antonio Carluccio - and that's just the opening night!

If you can't wait until then the Aye Write is hosting some pre-festival events in March 2013 including Jon Ronson: Lost at Sea, on 12 March. See the award-winning journalist and author of several popular books including the Men who Stare at Goats, which was made into a very funny movie staring the gorgeous George Clooney...
