WELCOME TO THE CARNIVAL, MAN...
Thursday August 1, 2013 by Marietjie Snyman
The streets of West London come alive every August Bank Holiday weekend, this year falling on on the 24th, 25th and 26th of August, as London celebratesEurope's biggest street festival – the Notting Hill Carnival. Held annually since 1966 and attracting around 2.5 million people in the past years, this is The place to be!
The Notting Hill Carnival is an amazing array of sounds, sights and colourful social solidarity. The Caribbean theme ensures steel bands, Calypso music and tempting food stalls. You'll be amazed by the sea of colour as costumed dancers and fantasticly ornate floats pass you by.
Locals and visitors from all over the world come to see the Carnival bringing London’s multicultural community together. Everyone is invited!
We do suggest though, that you plan your journey and allow for extra time as a number of local Tube stations will be closed. Or to be right in the heart of the action book a serviced apartment for the weekend!
