If there's one thing the City of Leeds is super passionate about then its the fantastically physical sport of rugby league! Being home to World Club Champions Leeds Rhinos, Leeds has been invited to host 2 important games in November's Rugby League World Cup. We wish Leeds Rhinos and England captain Kevin Sinfield and his boys the best of luck!
The whole city will celebrate hosting this explosive event by creating a thrilling build up featuring a wealth of exciting cultural activities for everyone to enjoy. Join in the fun at the Rugby League World Cup Fesitvals on match days and get in on the fun online by getting viral with the Rugby League World Cup Dance! #RLWC2013
And speaking of Festivals, the 27th Leeds International Film Festival is tracking the Rugby's November run this year kicking off on the 6th with the final whistle on the 21st!
One of the most diverse and exciting film festivals in Europe sees tickets starting from just £5 per film or you can get the LIFF27 single pass for £90 which gives access to EVERY SINGLE FILM during the 16 days of screenings. How exciting is that! Follow @leedsfilmfest for more information.
If you're inspired by England's exploits on the pitch and keen to get in shape yourself before the overindulgence of Christmas starts, then the Leeds Abbey Dash will be just the ticket. Taking place on the 17th of November this has previously made Runner's World's top ten 10k races! This terrific 10 is flat, fast and perfect for beginners and elites alike. Booking a serviced apartment for the race will allow you to do all of your last minute carb-loading without having to leave the flat! Afterwards you'll be able to ease away the aches and pains and bask in the pleasure of a PB in your own relaxing bathtub!
In celebration of all the excitement Leeds is switching on the Christmas Lights early this year, on the 7th of November. The entertainment, hosted by event partners Real Radio, will start from around 6.45pm at Victoria Gardens on the Headrow with stage based fun for all the family featuring a mix of live music, guest celebrities (with confirmed acts including singer-songwriter Gabriella Cilmi, indie band Rubylux and former X Factor finalists Same Difference), Santa's showtime and those famous pantomime characters. What's that I hear? Oh, yes it will!!
It is of course also the time of year when you need to wrap up warm, stock up on yummy parkin cake and get your sparklers ready - Bonfire Night 2013 here we come! With plenty of Bonfire Celebrations taking place all over Leeds and Super Kev leading us towards World Cup glory its time to pull on your mittens and your scarves and get out there for some proper fireworks Yorkshire style!
